`Class Task #6 – Photo Editing Challenge
Problem # 1 ..
Solution:
..How did you do it?
To put the second eye in, I selected and copied the cats left eye which was already in the picture. I then flipped it horizontally to make the other eye. Then I just made sure that the 2nd eye matched up with the first one, and I just blurred a bit around the eye so it blended with the fur of the cat.
Problem #2..
Solution:
..How did you do it?
First of all, I decided to make the bit that was ripped off from Ho’s picture. I took the bottom right of her picture which looked symmetrical to what would be on the left. I selected the area and flipped it horizontally. Then I aligned it to make sure it looked in place to the rest of the picture. To make the side of the newspaper, i just took bits from around the rest of the page and copy and pasted them there, on the bottom left. After I was done all of it, I just used the smudge tool to blur out the bits that looked like the edges were too sharp.
Class task # 5 – Born.Into.Brothels
1) How did you enjoy the film? What stood out for you?
I enjoyed the movie and thought it made people think. It made me realize how bad things are in 3rd world countries that kids younger then us, have to go through so much struggles and do things that they should not have to. Some things that stood out to me where, the ways the children were living. Also, the things that the parents were doing to make money, doing prostitution, and selling drugs and alcohol. Kids that young shouldnt be in an environment like that. Mostly all the kids living in the Red Light District, wernt even getting any education, they would just stay at home and either play with their friends, or do housework. I think that you don’t really actually get to know how hard it is for these children and many others there, untill you see it with your own eyes.
2) Did you learn anything new about photography, life, people? What?
I learned many things. For photography, I learned that it dosen’t really matter about how expensive your camera maybe, it’s all about knowing how to take pictures. I knew that life for people in these 3rd world countries was hard, but after actually seeing it, I can see how hard it is for these little kids.
3) How do you think the world needs to change?
How important is this?
I think the world needs to change in a big way. I think since there are many rich people out there, they should help out others in that are in serious need. This is very important, because women in these countries aren’t treated well. Women are humans too and should be trated equally, and not have to do prostitution just for money. I think everyone deserves to live a happy and safe life.
4) What are you willing to do TODAY to be a part of that change?
Well, if i was rich, I would try my best to help in any way that I could. I know that as one person myself I cant change and help everybody, but it would be a start.
5) Do you know a good song/rap/poem with good lyrics about change in the world?
Post a link or lyrics to share it with us.
“Changes” – Tupac
[1]
Come on come on
I see no changes wake up in the morning and I ask myself
is life worth living should I blast myself?
I’m tired of bein’ poor & even worse I’m black
my stomach hurts so I’m lookin’ for a purse to snatch
Cops give a damn about a negro
pull the trigger kill a nigga he’s a hero
Give the crack to the kids who the hell cares
one less hungry mouth on the welfare
First ship ‘em dope & let ‘em deal the brothers
give ‘em guns step back watch ‘em kill each other
It’s time to fight back that’s what Huey said
2 shots in the dark now Huey’s dead
I got love for my brother but we can never go nowhere
unless we share with each other
We gotta start makin’ changes
learn to see me as a brother instead of 2 distant strangers
and that’s how it’s supposed to be
How can the Devil take a brother if he’s close to me?
I’d love to go back to when we played as kids
but things changed, and that’s the way it is [Bridge w/ changing ad libs]
Come on come on
That’s just the way it is
Things’ll never be the same
That’s just the way it is
aww yeah
[Repeat][2]
I see no changes all I see is racist faces
misplaced hate makes disgrace to races
We under I wonder what it takes to make this
one better place, let’s erase the wasted
Take the evil out the people they’ll be acting right
’cause both black and white is smokin’ crack tonight
and only time we chill is when we kill each other
it takes skill to be real, time to heal each other
And although it seems heaven sent
We ain’t ready, to see a black President, uhh
It ain’t a secret don’t conceal the fact
the penitentiary’s packed, and it’s filled with blacks
But some things will never change
try to show another way but you stayin’ in the dope game
Now tell me what’s a mother to do
bein’ real don’t appeal to the brother in you
You gotta operate the easy way
“I made a G today” But you made it in a sleazy way
sellin’ crack to the kid. ” I gotta get paid,”
Well hey, well that’s the way it is[Bridge] [Talking:]
We gotta make a change…
It’s time for us as a people to start makin’ some changes.
Let’s change the way we eat, let’s change the way we live
and let’s change the way we treat each other.
You see the old way wasn’t working so it’s on us to do
what we gotta do, to survive.
[3]
And still I see no changes can’t a brother get a little peace
It’s war on the streets & the war in the Middle East
Instead of war on poverty they got a war on drugs
so the police can bother me
And I ain’t never did a crime I ain’t have to do
But now I’m back with the facts givin’ it back to you
Don’t let ‘em jack you up, back you up,
crack you up and pimp smack you up
You gotta learn to hold ya own
they get jealous when they see ya with ya mobile phone
But tell the cops they can’t touch this
I don’t trust this when they try to rush I bust this
That’s the sound of my tool you say it ain’t cool
my mama didn’t raise no fool
And as long as I stay black I gotta stay strapped
& I never get to lay back
‘Cause I always got to worry ’bout the pay backs
some punk that I roughed up way back
comin’ back after all these years
rat-tat-tat-tat-tat that’s the way it is uhh
[Bridge 'til fade]

Ideas that I have for Media arts projects that we could do individually or as a class to help contribute to these organizations that are important to us are, we could help raise money. We could have events, that help raise money for people who need it. We could also maybe write letter’s to the children.
